Catherine is an award-winning academic: a graduate of St John’s College, Cambridge, she holds a first-class degree in Classics. She was the Hort Scholar in the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge for 2021-2022 and received several awards and scholarships for her MPhil in the Religious Archaeology of Early Christianity and Mystery Cult Worship. She was a finalist in the Woolf Institute Kessler Essay Competition (2022) and won the Jesus College, Cambridge, Chadwick essay competition in 2022. She has presented her research at international and national conferences.

In her undergraduate degree she was given the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence and placed top of her cohort. In 2021 she was invited to be installed as a Scholar of St John’s College Cambridge in recognition of her pioneering research into the interplay between Mystery Cults and Christianity in Corinth. In 2025, she was the winner of The Classical Association’s Write-Speak-Design competition for the over 25s category.

She is currently studying for a PhD in Classics with the University of Durham and holds a prestigious Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Studentship. Catherine knows what it takes to be an academic scholar, and is living her academic ambitions alongside you.

Alongside her studies, Catherine is a Teacher of Latin and Classical Civilisation with 5 years of classroom experience in both the state and private sector. She has experience of guiding pupils at all levels through GCSE and A Level exams in Latin, Classical Civilisation and Religious Studies and, with two years’ experience writing exams for the 13+ Common Entrance Scholarship Latin paper, is equally familiar with the syllabus demands for CE pupils. She also has experience of delivering online education and tutoring and is praised for her ability to connect with students in-person and online.

Catherine has a passion for creating a stimulating learning environment where high academic challenge is met with high pastoral support, resulting in rapid academic development and stellar grades. She has a wide range of experience in adapting her teaching style and resources for pupils with SEN needs. In the last year, her pupils scored 100% A*-B at A level, and 100% Grades 7-9 at GCSE. 93% of her students who took the 2024 ICCG Classical Greek exam achieved a Distinction grade.

Catherine is fully DBS checked, and holds additional certifications in Child Protection in Education, UK Data Protection, Online Safety, Equality and Diversity, The Prevent Duty and First Aid. At her school, she is an Assistant Housemistress and Academic Tutor for pupils from aged 13 to 18. She is praised for her approachability and kindness as a mentor to students of all abilities and backgrounds.

Outside of teaching and academia, Catherine is an accomplished musician and choral singer who has held choral scholarships at both Cambridge and Durham. She is a keen walker, baker and cat-lover and lives with her fiancé, Matthew, and cat, Daphne.
